Privacy policy

Last updated October 1, 2026

Ideas at Play is an AI tutoring service for children. A parent creates the account and manages each student's profile. This policy explains the information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to parents.

Information we collect

How we use it

We use this information to sign parents in, deliver and adapt lessons, assess understanding, save progress, show results to the parent, operate the service, and investigate technical problems. We do not sell parent or student information or use lesson content for targeted advertising.

Google sign-in

If you choose Google sign-in, Google supplies your account identifier, name, email address, and email verification status through Amazon Cognito. We use these details to create or find your parent account and verify your sign-in. Google does not give us your Google password. We do not request access to your Gmail, Drive, or other Google content.

Service providers

Amazon Web Services hosts the service and can deliver email and text-message confirmation codes. To run a lesson, we send the student's messages and relevant lesson context to the configured AI provider. The app supports OpenAI, Google Gemini, xAI, and OpenRouter for this function. If voice features are used, speech is sent to OpenAI for transcription, and teacher text can be sent to xAI for voice generation. Google sign-in details are used for account access, not sent to these lesson providers for advertising or general model training by Ideas at Play.

Storage and choices

The app saves account and learning records so lessons and exercises can be resumed and reviewed. At present, these records remain in the active account until the parent deletes learning history or the account. A parent can review lesson records in the app, delete learning history from the parent dashboard, or request account deletion by contacting us. Deletion from active records may not immediately remove copies in backups or records held by service providers. We use browser storage to keep the parent signed in and remember display preferences.

Children

Parents control the account and create student profiles. We ask the parent or guardian to agree to the collection and use of a child's learning data before access. Parents may review and delete saved learning history, request account deletion, or stop further collection by stopping use of the service and contacting us. Please do not enter sensitive personal information in lesson answers or conversations.

Questions or deletion requests

Email [email protected] with privacy questions, requests to review or delete a child's information, or account deletion requests. We will update this page if our practices change; the date above shows when it was last revised.
